GRAFTON — A Taylor County man is suing GEICO, alleging breach of contract denying insurance coverage.
Michael D. Snider filed a complaint April 26 in Taylor Circuit Court against GEICO Secure Insurance Company, alleging failure to perform the conditions under the policy claim for property damage.
According to the complaint, on April 28, 2016, Snider was assured by GEICO's representative that his request for added comprehensive coverage would be in place immediately if his vehicle were damaged by an incoming storm.
After the hailstorm, Snider said he reported the damage but was denied his insurance claim because the coverage did not go into effect until April 29, 2016, a day after the hailstorm.
Snider also alleges his insurance coverage was canceled June 2, 2016, allegedly because he misrepresented facts surrounding the claim of loss.
The plaintiff alleges GEICO failed to provide information as to when coverage went into effect, failed to conduct a reasonable investigation concerning the coverage at issue and failed to provide Snider with reasonable assistance in presenting claims.
Snider seeks trial by jury, monetary damage, including attorney fees, court costs, punitive damages and all just relief. He is represented by attorneys Daniel C. Cooper and Jamison H. Cooper of Cooper Law Offices PLLC in Bridgeport.
