WHEELING — A man is suing a doctor, alleging his negligence caused the death of a family member.

Chad Anthony, administrator of the estate of Marian Anthony, deceased, filed a complaint May 5 in Ohio Circuit Court against Dr. David A. Ghaphery, alleging the doctor violated the standard of care in treating Marian Anthony.

According to the complaint, Marian Anthony, 62, died June 29, 2016 as result of a hemoperitoneum due to traumatic laceration during an elective laparoscopic cholesystectomy surgical procedure performed by Ghaphery on June 27, 2016. The plaintiff alleges Ghaphery failed to repair the decedent's lacerated transverse mesocolonn during surgery.

Chad Anthony seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and costs and all other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorneys Robert P. Fitzsimmons and Brent E. Ware of Fitzsimmons Law Firm PLLC in Wheeling.
