Woman alleges poor care at nursing home

BECKLEY - A West Virginia woman alleges that she received poor care and treatment from Heartland of Beckley.

Regina Lee alleges that while in the care of Heartland, she suffered serious injuries, neglect and abuse by the staff from Nov. 20 to Dec. 3, 2013. She also says that they failed to provide a safe environment, which resulted in pain and suffering, according to a lawsuit filed June 5 in Raleigh Circuit Court.

Lee allegedly “suffered from a fall resulting in injury and other problems at the nursing home facility resulting in physical injuries, mental anguish, physical pain and suffering and incurred medical treatment and expenses.” She also suffered inconvenience, inability to enjoy life and aggravation of existing disease and physical defects.

Lee seeks all damages allowable under insurance coverage provided by and through the state, attorney fees and costs, as well as any relief that the court sees fit.

The plaintiff is represented by Andrew L. Paternostro, Esq., and Jeff D. Stewart, Esq., of The Bell Law Firm, PLLC in Charleston.

Raleigh Circuit Court case number 15-C-538-H.
