Wrongful death suit filed against Wheeling Hospital

Wheelinghospital

WHEELING - A man is suing a hospital and doctors after his wife died while in their care.

Gilbert Peters, individually, and Gilbert Peters as administrator of the Estate of Beverly Peters, filed a lawsuit Dec. 4 in the Circuit Court of Ohio County against Wheeling Hospital Inc., Adel E. Frenn MD and Victor T. Perrone MD.

The complaint states Peters is the husband of Beverly Peters, who died on Dec. 20, 2011. According to the complaint, on Nov. 2, 2011, the defendants entered into a physician/patient relationship with Beverly Peters after she was admitted to Wheeling Hospital.

Gilbert claims the defendants were negligent by failing to exercise a degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by other physicians, failing to monitor Beverly's Coumadin and Lovenox orders, failing to monitor her INR levels and failing to timely render medical treatment, among other claims.

The complaint alleges that as a result of the defendant's negligence, Beverly's condition worsened and she suffered a retroperitoneal bleed and died due to their misconduct.

Gilbert Peters is seeking an undisclosed amount of damages. He is being represented in the case by attorney Ronald W. Zavolta.
