Hospital blamed for woman contracting strep

WHEELING -- A woman is suing after contracting an infection in a hospital.



Melissa K. and Drew Beihl filed a lawsuit Jan. 17 in Ohio Circuit Court against Wheeling Hospital Inc.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 19, 2012, Melissa Beihl was admitted to Wheeling Hospital for the birth of the couple's child, during which time she contracted Group A Strep. The hospital is accused of being on active notice of the presence of the infection in its facility and failing to safeguard Beihl from the danger.

Melissa and Drew Beihl are seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit. They are being represented in the case by attorneys David L. Delk Jr. and Jeffrey A. Grove of Grove & Delk PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Ronald E. Wilson.
