Houston-based collector accused of harassment

Collectioncalls

BECKLEY -- A Raleigh County woman is suing a debt collector, claiming harassment.

Virgie E. Graham filed a lawsuit Feb. 14 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Houston-based Patient Account Services LLC, citing violations of Consumer Credit and Protection Act, Computer Crime and Abuse Act and Telephone Harassment Statute, as well as infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

Graham claims she received multiple phone calls from the defendant in order to annoy and harass her into paying debts she owed the defendant. According to the claim, the defendant tried to collect the debts due in ways which are in direct violation of several laws put into place in the state of West Virginia.

Graham is seeking damages, attorney's fees and court costs. She is being represented by Fayetteville attorneys Ralph C. Young, Christopher B. Frost, Steven R. Broadwater Jr. and Jed R. Nolan of Hamilton, Burgess, Young and Pollard PLLC.
