WHEELING -- An Ohio County authority is suing over claims a company failed to make lease payments and abandoned a rental property in the Highlands.

Ohio County Development Authority filed a lawsuit March 25 in Ohio Circuit Court against L.E. Jack Inc. and Eric Jack, citing breach of contract.

According to the complaint, on June 15, 2012, Jack, as president of L.E. Jack, took over a commercial lease agreement through January 2022 with OCDA for a property at the Highlands. OCDA says Jack failed to make payments as early as January 2013 and abandoned the property in October 2013.

OCDA is seeking the overdue rent and fees in the amount of more than $54,400 as well as future rent through 2022 totaling more than $577,000.

It is being represented in the case by attorney Donald J. Tennant Jr.
