HUNTINGTON -- A man is suing a toy company after being injured as a child.

Justin Shanteau filed a lawsuit April 2 in Cabell Circuit Court against Cycle Source Group LLC and Toys R Us Inc., citing negligence.

The lawsuit states Shanteau was riding on a Honda bicycle May 6, 2006, as a child and the pedal broke, causing a cut to a vein. Shanteau claims he suffered injuries, permanent scarring, the need of medical treatment, the loss of earning capacity and pain and suffering.

Shanteau is seeking damages that meet jurisdictional limits.

He is being represented by private attorney Scott Stapleton. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher D. Chiles.
