Scott Orthopedic, doctors accused of negligence

LOGAN -- Local medical care providers are being sued after allegedly failing to perform necessary tests, which resulted in injuries.

Shauntay Myers filed a lawsuit April 17 in Logan Circuit Court against Scott Orthopedic Center Inc., Robert W. Lowe MD, Thomas Scott MD and Lou Woody FNP.

The complaint states Myers was a patient at Scott Orthopedic Center in Huntington for low back pain and bilateral leg pain June 28. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to perform an MRI or neurological consultation.

Subsequently the plaintiff was diagnosed with large disc herniations, requiring emergency surgery, according to the complaint. The plaintiff states the defendants negligently failed to order an MRI or neurological consultation, which caused the plaintiff to sustain injury.

The plaintiff is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

Myers is being represented in the case by Richard D. Lind­say and Matthew C. Lindsay of Tabor Lindsay & Associates PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Eric H. O'Briant.
