Woman says insurer won't investigate claim

Insuranceclaim

FAYETTEVILLE -- A West Virginia woman is suing Liberty Mutual Insurance, claiming they have not responded to her insurance claim.

Pamela Coleman filed a lawsuit May 16 in Fayette Circuit Court against Liberty Mutual Insurance, citing breach of contract and common law bad faith.

Coleman claims she purchased an insurance policy from the defendants prior to Jan. 27, to insure her property at 16771 Deep Water Road in Mt. Carbon. The suit alleges Coleman's home was damaged by a fire Jan. 27 and, even though she filed a claim in a timely manner, the defendant has failed to investigate, resolve the claim or notify Coleman when she should expect the claim to be resolved.

Coleman is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

She is being represented by attorney Greg A. Hewitt of Hewitt and Salvatore PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul M. Blake Jr.
