PERSONNEL FILE: Brown elected partner at Nelson Mullins

HUNTINGTON – The partners of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP have elected Nathan Brown to the partnership.

Brown is a former of counsel attorney who joined the firm in 2012.

Brown practices in the area of complex civil litigation and represents hospitals, banks, and large corporations in high-stakes litigation, including class-action and mass-tort cases. Brown’s practice focuses on data security, patient and consumer privacy, consumer finance disputes, and medical professional liability. He regularly appears in federal and state courts within West Virginia and Virginia.

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, he served as a trial defense counsel in the United States Army at Fort Campbell, Ky. Before serving at Fort Campbell, he acted as the senior legal advisor to the brigade that trained combat advisors and deployed to Afghanistan as the command judge advocate for the unit combating improvised explosive devices.

Based on his military service, Brown frequently represents local veterans on a pro bono basis, assisting them with a variety of legal matters.

Brown received his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina-Honors College.  He is a graduate of the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy, held at Stanford University.

Brown is a member of the DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar, the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, and the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee of the West Virginia State Bar.
