WHEELING – An Ohio County man is suing over claims he is owed more than $63,000 in unpaid wages.

Douglas Merriman filed a lawsuit Dec. 30 in Ohio Circuit Court against Advanced Fabric Technologies and David O'Keefe, citing breach of contract.

According to the complaint, Merriman, who worked for Advanced Fabric Technologies, was not paid wages from Nov. 1, 2012, through Oct. 31, 2013, which constitutes a violation of the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act. The complaint states O'Keefe was responsible for making the company adhere to law as its president and CEO. Merriman says he is owed more than $63,000 in wages and $191,000 in liquidated damages.

Merriman is represented by attorney Christopher M. Turak of Gold, Khourey & Turak in Moundsville. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Martin J. Gaughan.
