CHARLESTON – The Eleventh Family Circuit Court (Kanawha County) Bench/Bar Committee will host its Fourth Annual Black History Month “Star” Celebration Program and continuing legal education seminar.
The event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the Ceremonial Courtroom (also known as Courtroom No. 4) on the second floor of the Kanawha County Courthouse, 309 Virginia St., Charleston.
This year the committee’s “Special Thanks and Recognition “Star” honorees include: Dr. Charles Byers, Mrs. Edithe Byers, Mrs. Patricia Wilson, Mr. Henry Graves, Mrs. Barbara Cary, Mrs. Karen Price-Williams, Mr. Clinton Giles, and Mrs. Myrna Geiger.
This year’s celebration will include a special student/professional dialogue panel called “Wisdom From The Village.”
This event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, in the same location. The Bench/Bar Committee is inviting three student representatives from local middle and high schools to participate in the discussion of a variety of topics that affect students, including literacy, drug and alcohol abuse and prevention, bullying, and truancy.
Both events are free and open to the public. Bench/Bar Committee member Andrew Nason will moderate the CLE presentation. Attorneys who attend will receive 1.8 CLE credits.
