County resident sues commission for winter injury

Wyoming

PINEVILLE — A Wyoming County woman sued Wyoming County Commission, alleging liability in a personal injury.

Kathy Houchins, of Pineville, filed a lawsuit March 3 in Wyoming Circuit Court against the Wyoming County Commission, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the commission bears all legal responsibility for her fall on Jan. 23, 2014, due to wet, snowy conditions at property owned, operated and maintained by the defendant when she was on the premises.

Alleging that the Wyoming County Commission’s premises were unsafe due to negligence, Houchins cites breach of duty and seeks compensation for purported serious physical injuries; medical expenses, pain and suffering, and distress; plus attorneys’ fees and costs.

She is represented in the case by Greg Hewitt of Hewitt and Salvatore in Fayetteville. The case has been assigned to Judge Warren Randolph McGraw.
