Dr. Suzanne Bell's forensic chemistry students at West Virginia University log lots of time in the lab, learning techniques they'll translate to real-life crime labs down the road. The field of forensic investigation used to be dominated by men, but that's no longer the case. And WVU is right on the curve of the profession's new conventional wisdom: some 70 percent of the 500 forensic majors here are female.
