Man seeks more than $50,000 for 2003 vehicle accident

CHARLESTON – A Charleston man is seeking more than $50,000 for a 2003 accident in Charleston that did $817 in damages to vehicle.

Martin I. Skiles claims Kelly J. George was responsible for an accident that occurred Dec. 15, 2003, at the corner of Ruffner Avenue and Lee Street.

In the suit, filed Dec. 7 by attorney John E. Dorsey in Kanawha Circuit Court, Skiles said it cost $817.68 to repair his vehicle.

Skiles claims he sustained "grievous" injury to body and mind and had to pay substantial medical expenses for care and treatment. In addition, he says he suffered pain and suffering, temporary and permanent disabilities and great annoyance and inconvenience.

In addition to the damages to pay for repairs made to the vehicle, Skiles also seeks at least $50,000 in compensatory damages for medical care and treatment, pain and suffering and annoyance and inconvenience. He also requests attorney fees, court costs and other relief deemed by the court. He seeks a jury trial.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charley King.
