Car crashed through Shoney's, lawsuit says

CHARLESTON - Two people were injured in a car crash at a Shoney's restaurant in Dunbar, a recently filed lawsuit says.

William and Melodie Hill filed the suit June 9 in Kanawha Circuit Court, claiming Linda Moran ran her car through the plate glass window where the two were sitting June 15, 2004.

Stephen P. Swisher is representing the Hills.

"The defendant pulled onto the Shoney's parking lot, but as she went to apply the brakes to park, she negligently hit the accelerator and drove through the plate glass window," the lawsuit says.

Melodie Hill says she suffered a lumbar strain and some parathesis and her medical bills were approximately $9,000. She is suing for $75,000.

William Hill says he suffered back and toe injuries, as well as contusions to his right hip and left arm and a pinched abdomen. His medical bills were approximately $20,000, but he is suing for $150,000.

Judge Jennifer Bailey Walker has been assigned the case.
