Woman says its not fun to swim at the YMCA

HUNTINGTON - A Cabell County woman says she was kicked in the head while swimming at the Huntington YMCA.

Joanna McKnight claims she was severely injured by a child going down a slide in a lawsuit she field Sept. 21 in Cabell Circuit Court.

McKnight says the incident took place Sept. 24, 2004.

"The plaintiff was swimming in the pool at the YMCA when she was struck in the head by a child sliding down a slide which enters the pool area," the complaint says.

"The defendant did not have appropriate supervision in the pool area. As a result of the negligent condct of the defendant, Joanna McKnight was injured."

Severe and permanent injuries to her forehead, neck and back are cited by McKnight, who claims to have incurred medical expenses too.

She also demands compensation for great pain of body and mind, physical disabilities, impairment of enjoyment of life and mental anguish.

Gregory Howard of Bailey and Howard in Barboursville is representing McKnight.

Judge John Cummings has been assigned the case.
