Monongalia man says Allstate didn't pay fire claim

MORGANTOWN - A Monongalia County landowner has filed a suit against his insurance agent and company seeking coverage for a property damaged by a fire.

Kevin Miller filed the suit Jan. 24 in Monongalia Circuit Court against Allstate Insurance Company, Joseph Freme and Duane White.

The complaint says White sold Miller an Allstate insurance policy, which Miller sought to provide coverage for a building, which caught fire May 6, 2005.

The suit states the Miller made "repeated oral and written demands for adjustment and payment of his fire claims," but it says White, Freme and Allstate have failed and refused to comply with their obligations under the policy.

Miller seeks judgment against the defendants, jointly and severally, for compensatory and general damages, both economic and non-economic and punitive damages.

Miller is being represented by J. Bryan Edwards of Cranston and Edwards in Morgantown.
