Woman's estate sues Monongalia assisted living facility

MORGANTOWN - The executors of a deceased woman have filed a suit against a Monongalia County assisted living facility, claiming its negligent care caused the woman to die.

Louise Caruso and Michael Caruso, co-executors of Marguerite Furfari, filed a suit in Monongalia Circuit Court against Tender Loving Care Health Care Services.

Furfari, 83, was a resident of Villages of Heritage Point in Morgantown in July 2005. She had Alzheimer's and dementia. The suit says Furfari was prone to falls, and 24-hour care was recommended. Tender Loving Care was contracted to provide care for her.

On July 14, 2005, an aide was employed to Furfari. The suit says the aide helped Furfari into the bathroom and either left Furfari unattended or turned her back. Furfari fell and fractured her hip.

The suit says the negligence of Tender Loving Care employees caused Furfari to be injured.

Louise Caruso and Michael Caruso seek compensation for the injuries Furfari sustained while under the care of Tender Loving Care Health Care Services.
