Man blames former employer for his paralysis

HUNTINGTON - A Kanawha County man has filed a suit against the window company where he worked, claiming he was paralyzed because of negligence shown by the company.

Calven F. Comer filed a suit May 18 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Superior Windows Inc.

Comer claims he was paralyzed while installing siding on a private residence March 22, 2006. According to the suit, Comer was working in windy conditions on a nine-foot ladder "when a gust of wind blew him off balance and caused him to fall to the ground."

As a result of the fall, Comer was paralyzed. He has incurred other injuries and various medical bills.

Comer claims in the suit that the job should have been halted when it was windy because it would be dangerous to be on a ladder in those conditions.

Comer, with attorney Jason Goad, seeks workers' compensation, which has not been paid. The case has been assigned to Judge Jennifer Bailey Walker.
