Tabit files to run for Kanawha Circuit Court

Tabit

CHARLESTON - Charleston attorney Joanna Tabit filed papers to run for a circuit court judge seat in 2008.

Tabit, who previously ran for circuit judge in 2000, joined Family Court Judge Mike Kelly in beginning the process to run. Tabit shares Kelly's sentiments and has said she will not run against a sitting judge.

None of the current seven judges have indicated they will not run for re-election.

Tabit, 46, worked as an assistant state attorney general under Roger Tompkins and Mario Palumbo, has also formed the Committee to Elect Joanna Tabit.

Tabit is a lifelong Kanawha County resident. She graduated from Marshall University and earned her law degree from West Virginia University. She was admitted to the state bar in 1986. She has worked for law firm Steptoe and Johnson for the last 15 years.
