* The plaintiff claimed that Keedysville Land Co. owed at least $75,000 plus interest, and a notice of foreign judgment was entered in the Berkeley Circuit Court. The judgment from the Circuit Court of Washington County, Md., awarded the plaintiffs the principle amount plus interest, for a total of $80,486.40 as of April 30, 2007.

Hensler claims the defendant was negligent and should have fixed the broken rain gutter that caused a puddle at the front of the company's building. He claims he suffered injuries, and he is seeking an undetermined amount of relief.

* Verizon is petitioning for an appeal of an administrative decision that denied a refund of telecommunications tax. Verizon claims many of its services were subject to competition during the 2004 tax year, and so it should not have been required to pay certain taxes.
