Wayne attorney sued by neighbor over roofing problems

WAYNE - A Wayne County man has filed a suit against a Wayne attorney claiming roofers working on the attorney's building damaged his adjacent roof.

William Napier filed a suit May 22 in Wayne Circuit Court against Don Jarrell, Don Jarrell Attorney At Law and John Doe Entity or Entities. In the suit, Napier seeks more than $30,000 to repair damages to his building.

Napier owns a building at 521 Hendricks Street in Wayne, which abuts Jarrell's building at 218 North Court Street.

According to the suit, Jarrell hired an unnamed person or company to repair the roof on his building. In the process of repairing the roof, the person or company allegedly cut several holes in Napier's roof.

Also, the suit says that during the process of repairing Jarrell's roof, the roofer built it to extend over Napier's building, causing water to run onto his roof. Napier says water leaked into his building, causing more than $30,000 in damages.

Napier, by counsel Chad Hatcher, seeks compensatory damages.

The case has been assigned to Judge Darrell Pratt.
