Berkeley woman sues employer after losing her foot on the job

MARTINSBURG - A Berkeley County woman has filed a suit against her employer after her foot was crushed while working.

Robin M. Gott filed a suit Sept. 4 in Berkeley Circuit Court, against The Raymond Corporation, Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A. Inc., and General Motors Corporation.

According to the suit, Gott was operating a Raymond Reach fork truck for GM on Dec. 20, 2005. While driving, she drove over debris, which caused her left foot to come out of the fork truck. According to the suit, her foot was crushed between the truck and a concrete pier.

"The severe injuries suffered in the incident resulted in a below-the-knee amputation of (Gott's) left foot," the suit says.

Gott claims she was subjected to unreasonable danger, and as a result, sustained serious and permanent injuries.

According to the suit, Gott claims she sustained pain and suffering, loss of income, medical expenses, impairment of earning capacity and loss of enjoyment of life.

In the six-count suit, Gott seeks adequate compensation for her injuries and damages.

Attorney Edwin H. Pancake is representing Gott. The case has been assigned to Judge Gray Silver.
