WOWK sues law firm over unpaid fees

Hunt

CHARLESTON - A local television station has filed a lawsuit against a local law firm, seeking more than $23,000 in unpaid fees.

WOWK-TV, which has studios in both Charleston and Huntington, filed the suit Oct. 10 in Kanawha Circuit Court. The suit is against Hunt & Serreno, a Charleston law firm.

According to the suit, on Aug. 18, 2006, Mark Hunt, on behalf of Hunt & Serreno, delivered a promissory note for $23,285 to WOWK. The note has interest at the prime rate as established by JP Morgan Chase, plus 2 percent from Jan. 1, 2006.

"The note required that payment of the principal and interest was due to (WOWK) in one installment payable on or before Sept. 30, 2006," the suit says.

WOWK claims Hunt & Serreno has defaulted by failing to make the payment on the note.

According to attorney Lenna R. Chambers, WOWK seeks a court judgment for $23,285, plus interest, from Hunt & Serreno.

The case has been assigned to Judge James Stucky.
