CHARLESTON - A Jackson County woman has filed a suit against her previous employer, claiming she was fired because of her sex.
Pamela Fisher filed a suit Oct. 29 in Kanawha Circuit Court against AT&T Mobility, doing business as Cingular Wireless.
Fisher was employed by a Cingular store in Putnam County for more than four years from January 2002 to August 2006.
According to the suit, Fisher claims she was fired because of her sex, which is a violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act.
Fisher claims that because of the violation of the human rights act, she is entitled to reinstatement at her job or alternative front pay, as well as punitive damages and back pay.
Fisher also seeks additional compensatory damages, as well as punitive damages for emotional distress, embarrassment and mental anguish.
Attorney J. Michael Ranson is representing Fisher. The case has been assigned to Judge Tod Kaufman.
