Massage therapist sentenced to two years in jail

CHARLESTON - A massage therapist who was arrested for secretly videotaping female clients as they dressed and undressed will spend two years in jail.

Richard "Rico" Filbin was charged with 114 counts of criminal invasion of privacy. He pled guilty to 12 of those counts Jan. 2 in Kanawha Magistrate Court. The others were dropped as part of a plea bargain.

Filbin also was ordered to pay more than $6,000 in court costs and fines and sentenced to two years of probation.

Filbin was arrested May 31 after his wife alerted police of videotapes she found. On the tapes, Filbin had secretly videotaped more than 65 women, some allegedly under the age of 18.

Two civil suits were filed against Filbin, one class action by attorney John H. Tinney Jr. and one filed by attorney Marvin Masters.
