* Jeff T. Gay, of Upshur County, is seeking $25,000 in medical expenses after his legs were crushed by equipment while working on a well in New York. Gay claims Phoenix Drilling failed to provide a safe wench for the job. Gay claims the company violated safety laws and regulations by failing to properly maintain the wench in a safe working condition. Gay claims he suffered injuries to his back, legs, internal organs, and upper and lower extremities, suffering approximately $25,000 in medical expenses. Gay seeks compensatory damages.

* Frances and Kenneth Landers filed a suit against Davol, Inc., and Thomas Memorial Hospital, after Frances was given a Kugel Mesh during a hernia operation. The mesh was later recalled. Frances Landers claims she suffered more than $250,000 in medical expenses due to complications from the Kugel Mesh. Kenneth Landers claims he suffered a loss of consortium from his wife, and has become obligated for the payment of her medical bills. The Landers seek compensatory damages for their losses.

* Vonda Rippitoe filed a suit against Jessica Davis, claiming Davis ran off the road, drove across four lanes and traffic and struck her Aug. 30, 2006. She seeks $500,000 from the Davis'.

* Kevin Wiggins filed a suit against All Crane and Equipment Rental Corporation, claiming he was injured when he fell off a broken catwalk.
