Insurance company sued for slip, fall at office

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman has filed a suit against a local insurance company after she slipped and fell on a sidewalk leading to the company's front door.

Karen Harper filed a suit Jan. 7 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Roger Hainer Insurance, Inc.

According to the suit, Harper was walking in front of the insurance building Jan. 9, 2006, when she slipped off the edge of the sidewalk and fell, breaking her left ankle and right foot.

Harper claims the company negligently maintained the sidewalk and failed to place warning signs or markings around the property.

Harper seeks compensatory and punitive damages for her injuries.

Attorney G. Patrick Jacobs is representing Harper. The case has been assigned to Judge Louis Bloom.
