Woman sues after injuring ankle at Lowe's

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman has filed a suit against a national home improvement store after she injured her ankle while shopping at the store.

Nancy A. Brasseur filed the suit Oct. 6 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Lowe's Home Centers Inc.

According to the suit, Brasseur was a customer at a Lowe's store in Charleston on Nov. 22, 2006. While there, she stepped on debris in the aisle and suffered an injury to the connective tissue of her left ankle.

Brasseur claims Lowe's had a duty to keep the store clear of debris, which created a dangerous and hazardous condition.

According to the suit, Brasseur seeks compensatory and punitive damages to cover her injuries.

Attorney Edwin H. Pancake is representing Brasseur. The case has been assigned to Judge Charlie King.
