CHARLESTON -- Mark D. Nelson has joined the law firm of Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love as Human Resources Director.
"Mark has more than 20 years of experience in law firm management and has a proven record of working with individuals and groups to successfully achieve objectives," said Thomas A. Heywood, the firm's managing partner. "We are delighted that he has joined our Bowles Rice team."
Nelson is the former regional administrator for Steptoe & Johnson in Charleston and previously held management and human resources positions for several law firms in the Washington, D.C., area.
Nelson will be responsible for human resources operations at Bowles Rice, including recruiting, developing and retaining staff; assisting with attorney recruitment; professional development; compensation and benefits programs; monitoring and supporting the firm's commitment to diversity and equal opportunity; and administering compliance with all laws relating to employment.
He is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators and has chaired several ALA education sections and committees. He received his bachelor's degree in political science from Radford University in Virginia.
