Woman sues Olive Garden over fall

CHARLESTON – A woman is suing Olive Garden after she claims she slipped on water while working as a server.

Barbara King filed a lawsuit June 26 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Darden GC Corp. doing business as Olive Garden.

King says that on Nov. 24, 2007, she was working as a server at the Olive Garden in South Charleston. Her job duties included carrying heavy trays of food back and forth from the dining area through the kitchen.

She says she noticed some water on the floor of the kitchen and told her supervisor that it needed cleaned up.

The lawsuit says that the water was not cleaned up and she slipped and fell, causing severe and permanent injuries to her spine, left hand, wrist and right knee.

She's seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

Travis E. Ellison III is representing the plaintiff. The case is before Kanawha Circuit Judge Irene Berger.
