CHARLESTON -- William E. Robinson, former Chair of the Labor & Employment Department at Charleston-based Robinson & McElwee, has joined Dinsmore & Shohl.

He will join the firm as a Partner in the Labor & Employment Law Department, working in the firm's Charleston office.

"We are extremely pleased that Bill has chosen to join our growing West Virginia practice," said Henry Jernigan, Managing Partner of Dinsmore & Shohl's West Virginia offices. "In the seven years we have been in West Virginia, we have grown from two to 60 lawyers largely as a result of our ability to attract skilled attorneys such as Bill.

"As one of the preeminent labor and employment attorneys in the state, his addition to our already strong L&E group will help ensure that our clients in West Virginia and regionally receive the best legal representation possible when faced with issues in this field."

Robinson brings more than 25 years experience as a labor and employment attorney to the firm. He is the son of Robinson and McElwee's founding partner, E. Glenn Robinson.

"I have been fortunate to have enjoyed a long, successful relationship with my prior firm, but I could not turn away from this wonderful opportunity," Robinson said. "For reasons that have been readily apparent to me as one of Dinsmore & Shohl's competitors for several years, it is clearly the premier labor and employment law firm in West Virginia.

"I am honored to join its ranks as a partner in the Charleston office, and look forward to serving clients old and new for many years to come."

Robinson's practice focuses on employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, and other labor and employment law matters. In addition to his legal practice, Robinson remains active in the community serving on the Employment Committee for a number of professional organizations including the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the West Virginia State Bar and the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia.

He also currently serves a member of the Board of Directors for several civic organizations including the Children's Home Society of West Virginia and Goodwill Industries of the Kanawha Valley. Robinson earned his J.D. and B.S. from West Virginia University.
