Canfield
CHARLESTON -- John Canfield has returned to the State Farm Insurance Companies as corporate counsel and lobbyist in West Virginia.
Canfield previously served in this role with State Farm from 1992 to 2008. In 2008, Canfield joined Dinsmore & Shohl as a partner in the Charleston office, where he practiced in the firm's government relations, insurance, and health care practice groups.
He has an extensive background with insurance coverage disputes, extra-contractual bad faith issues and administrative hearings, as well as significant legislative lobbying and regulatory experience.
Canfield continues to serve as Chairman of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce's Government Relations Committee. He is also a Board Member of the West Virginia Insurance Federation, where he previously served five terms as President of the organization. Canfield has also served on the Boards of the West Virginia Insurance Guaranty Association and the West Virginia Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association.
He obtained his BA in History from West Virginia University, and his JD from the West Virginia University College of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Order of Barristers. Canfield is admitted to the West Virginia State Bar; the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals; and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia.
