Man sues former employer, owner for unlawful discharge

CHARLESTON -- A Charleston man is suing his former employer and its owner after he claims he was unlawfully discharged because of his age.

Charles D. Thomas began working at Boyd's Family Home Medical on March 26, 2007, and continued to work there until July 27, 2009, according to a complaint filed Jan. 6 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Thomas claims the owner, Jeffrey A. Boyd, fired him because of his age. He claims the defendants violated the Public Policy of the State of West Virginia.

Thomas is seeking compensatory and punitive damages; back pay and employment benefits; and an award of either reinstatement or for front pay in lieu of reinstatement. J. Michael Ranson, Cynthia M. Ranson and George B. Morrone III of Ranson Law Offices are representing him.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charles E. King.
