Huntington attorney elected to executive committee of National Foundation for Judicial Excellence

Williams

HUNTINGTON -- A managing partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough's West Virginia office has been elected to the executive committee of the National Foundation for Judicial Excellence.

Marc Williams was elected earlier this month to NFJE, which is a charitable foundation that provides training on civil justice issues to state court appellate judges from across the nation.

"I'm thrilled to be able to continue to serve the NFJE as a member of the executive committee," Williams said. "This is the defense bar's most significant outreach to the national judiciary and it is critically important that we educate these judges on issues of importance to companies and individuals who get sued in this country."

Williams said grateful to have the opportunity to serve on the executive committee of the NFJE.

"Over the last six years we have educated hundreds of judges from all over the U.S. and they do not hesitate to tell us how much they look forward to our symposium," he said. "I am gratified to have the opportunity to serve in this area of critical need."

The organization addresses important legal policy issues affecting the law and civil justice system by providing meaningful support and education to the judiciary by publishing scholarly works and engaging in other efforts to continually enhance and ensure judicial excellence and fairness for all in the process.

Williams is active in several legal professional organizations and recently completed a term as the president of DRI -- The Voice of the Defense Bar, which is the international organization of lawyers and corporate counsel who defend the interests of businesses and individuals in civil litigation.

Williams also serves on the board of directors of Lawyers for Civil Justice, an organization of corporations and lawyers working for civil justice reform.

His practice includes complex commercial litigation, toxic torts, consumer fraud, drug and medical device litigation, intellectual property and trade secrets and environmental claims.
