State Law Library hosting grandparents' rights workshop

CHARLESTON -– The State Law Library will present a free informational workshop on grandparents' rights at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11. The session will focus on a grandparent's legal right to visitation but also will benefit those raising children of relatives.

Laura Lou Harbert from Mission West Virginia will be on hand to discuss the fledgling Kanawha Valley Relatives as Parents group, whose mission is to raise awareness of the dynamics of raising children of relatives, including the financial, educational, and emotional issues which can develop. The Library will provide information on resources and assistance available to grandparents seeking visitation and to those who, either formally or informally, have custody of children of relatives.

The workshop will be held in the State Law Library, Room E-404 in the East Wing of the State Capitol. Metered parking is available on California Avenue and is free on Saturdays.

For directions or additional information, contact Sara Thompson at (304) 558-2607. The session is open to the public and no registration is required.
