Woman sues Kroger, others for injuries

CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing Kroger Limited Partnership I, Kroger Group Cooperative and M&J General Contractors after she was injured at the Kroger in St. Albans.

On Dec. 11, 2009, Conna Poe was at the St. Albans Kroger when she slipped on gravel and was injured, according to a complaint filed Aug. 19 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Poe claims M&J Generl Contractors was performing construction and remodeling work at the store when she was injured.

The defendants failed to exercise a duty of reasonable care to keep the premises reasonably safe, according to the suit.

Poe claims she suffered severe physical injuries; medical, hospital and doctor expenses in excess of $5,000; severe pain and suffering; loss of enjoyment of life; and mental anguish, annoyance, aggravation and inconvenience.

Poe is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by Harvey D. Peyton.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charles King.
