MORGANTOWN -- A Morgantown woman is suing Dyno Nobel after she claims the company is responsible for injuries she sustained while working.
On Sept. 24, 2008, Gloria R. Lewis-Moats reported to work at Dyno Nobel wearing the required uniform, which included steel-toed boots, according to a complaint filed Sept. 23 in Monongalia Circuit Court.
Lewis-Moats claims she was instructed by James Moore, her supervisor, to assist him in lifting and carrying 250-pound drill steels by hand. She claims while assisting him, he dropped one of the drill steels, which landed on her left foot.
The defendants had a duty to maintain safe work premises and failed to do so, according to the suit.
Lewis-Moats claims as a result of the defendants' acts, she suffered a severe contusion to her left foot, which resulted in complex regional pain syndrome in the foot.
Lewis-Moats is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is representing herself.
