CHARLESTON -- Huddleston Bolen, the State Journal, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and SCORE will hold a Business4Breakfast seminar entitled "Building a Winning Team" on Dec. 10.

The seminar will focus on leadership skills for managers. Kevin Nelson, an employment lawyer at Huddleston Bolen and coach of the three-time West Virginia high school girls soccer champions, will address leadership skills from a legal perspective, focusing on common mistakes managers make when they're trying to motivate their employees. Nelson will also offer tips on how to motivate a team based on lessons he's learned as a successful manager and coach.

The hourlong seminar will begin at 7:45 a.m. at Huddleston Bolen's Charleston office, which is located in Chase Tower at 707 Virginia Street East on the 13th Floor.

Business4Breakfast seminars are designed to help professionals understand and navigate the breadth of opportunities and challenges in today's business world. They are free and open to the public. Nelson has been the lead lawyer in trials in the areas of employment law, insurance, medical malpractice, and energy law. He was also the West Virginia girls' Class AA-A Region III coach of the year in 2006 and 2009, the Kanawha Valley Girls' Coach of the Year in 2008. His 2007 team finished the season ranked first in the State in all classes. In 2008 Charleston Catholic won the State AA-A girls' championship in the first season that the sport was divided into two classifications. His team won repeat titles in 2009 and 2010, finishing 2010 ranked No. 22 in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's regional rankings.
