CHARLESTON -— The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle has announced that William B. Hicks joined the Charleston office as an associate attorney.

His primary area of practice is consumer finance litigation.

Hicks has a depth of litigation experience in areas such as insurance defense, employment law, contract and property disputes, products liability, toxic torts, securities, and environmental law. Prior to joining the firm, he served as Assistant General Counsel to the Cabinet Secretary for the State of West Virginia Department of Administration.

Hicks earned two academic degrees from West Virginia University, a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from the WVU School of Medicine and a J.D. from the WVU College of Law. While in law school, he served as the managing editor of West Virginia Law Review.
