CHARLESTON -- A Kanawha County woman is suing General Motors Corporation and C&O Motors after she claims the vehicle she purchased was defective.

On Nov. 14, 2009, Deborah Barker purchased a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo from the defendants for $19,515.25, according to a complaint filed April 27 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Barker claims the vehicle's engine light keeps coming on, even though she has taken it to the service department, who found nothing wrong with it; and the vehicle has repeated problems with cracked spark plugs, internal cooling problems and cracked thermostat housing.

Despite numerous attempts, the defendants have failed to adequately repair the vehicle in a timely fashion, according to the suit.

Barker is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by Timothy J. LaFon.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr.
