CHARLESTON -- The Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. of West Virginia presents a free seminar entitled "Protect Your Company from Blasting Claims" on June 15.

The seminar will begin at noon on June 15 at Huddleston Bolen's Charleston office, located at 707 Virginia St. East, Suite 1300. Lunch will be provided.

The mining, construction, and blasting industries face frequent complaints and claims of damage filed by third-party property owners and residents who express opposition to and allege damages from mining and construction projects. This seminar will provide information regarding how to protect against a wide range of claims and litigation stemming from construction activities and the use of explosives.

Melissa Dodd Veltri will provide a brief overview of blasting litigation and offer recommendations regarding steps construction companies can take to try to avoid litigation. She will also advise attendees of steps they can take to help protect themselves in future litigation such as indemnification clauses, the need for good pre-blast surveys, etc.

To register for the free seminar, visit or call (304) 346-8791.
