Former employee sues KJ Group for failure to pay wages

CHARLESTON -- A former employee is suing KJ Group, LLC, for failing to timely pay his final wages within 72 hours of discharge.

Wade Shaffer was employed by the defendant from Feb. 1 until May, according to a complaint filed Sept. 19 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Shaffer claims when the defendant terminated his employment, it failed to pay his final wages within 72 hours of terminating his employment.

The defendant's actions violated the West Virgina Wage Payment and Collection Act, according to the suit.

Shaffer claims because KJ Group violated the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act, he is entitled to an award of his wages and benefits with interest and liquidated damages.

Shaffer is seeking compensatory and liquidated damages. He is being represented by J. Michael Ranson, Cynthia M. Ranson, George B. Morrone III and G. Patrick Jacobs.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
