CHARLESTON – A Greenbrier County attorney has surrendered his law license though the reasons why remain unknown.
The state Supreme Court on Friday, Oct. 21 ordered the annulment of Denney William Bostic's license. The annulment came at the request of Bostic, 52, who prior to then, worked at the Greenbrier County Public Defender's Office in Lewisburg.
However, the reasons for Bostic's annulment are not known as he requested they be kept under seal. In submitting its petition for annulment, the Office of Disciplinary Counsel made note of Bostic's request, and that it was being done absent a filing of a statement of charges.
A statement of charges acts like an indictment for disciplinary purposes.
A review of his disciplinary file yielded no details except when he previously worked for the Jackson County Public Defender's Office six former court-appointed clients filed complaints against him between 1997 and 2008. Five complaints were clustered between 2006 and 2008.
All were dismissed.
A search of records in both Greenbrier Magistrate and Circuit courts reveals no pending criminal charges, or indictments against him.
Currently, Bostic, who was first admitted to the Bar on Dec. 10, 1993, lives in Wilmington, N.C. He may reapply for readmission in 2016.
