Woman blames General Motors for defective vehicle

CHARLESTON -- A Cross Lanes woman is suing General Motors after she claims the vehicle she purchased was defective.

On Aug. 1, 2009, Lisa L. Crawford purchased a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt from GM in the amount of $18,404, according to a complaint filed Aug. 1 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Crawford claims after purchasing the vehicle, she experienced repeated problems with the quality of workmanship of the vehicle.

The defendant attempted to repair the vehicle on at least five separate occasions, but the defendant failed to remedy the problem, according to the suit.

Crawford claims as a result of the defects in the vehicle, she has sustained substantial impairment to use and/or market value of their vehicle.

The defendant's actions caused Crawford to suffer loss of use of the vehicle, a risk of safety to the occupants, a complete and/or partial diminution in the value of the vehicle, as well as substantial annoyance, aggravation and inconvenience, according to the suit.

Crawford is seeking revocation of the acceptance of the vehicle and refund of the purchase price; repair costs; and damages for loss of use, annoyance and inconvenience and for expenses incurred for replacement transportation with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Patrick Lane.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
