Man says Humane Association made false accusations about him

CHARLESTON -- A man is suing Kanawha Charleston Humane Association after he claims the employees at the animal shelter made false accusations about him and harmed his character.

The defendant falsely accused Don Boardwine of harassing employees and threatening a female staff member of the animal shelter, according to a complaint filed Aug. 24 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Boardwine claims the defendant alleged that he began a course of conduct that the staff at the animal shelter perceived as harassment and that they banned him from being on the premises of the animal shelter.

Boardwine is seeking a public apology from the defendant, to be allowed access into the defendant's animal shelter and to be allowed to attend all board meetings at the facility. He is representing himself.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge James C. Stucky.
