Woman says ResCare defamed her character

CHARLESTON -- A woman is suing ResCare Home Care Corporation after she claims it defamed her character and harmed her career as a counselor.

Margaret Robinson has been an evangelist since 1979 and claims ResCare’s tactics harmed her reputation as a counselor, according to a complaint filed Aug. 17 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Robinson claims ResCare intentionally defamed her character and acted with malice by intentionally crafting lies designed to hurt her future employment career.

ResCare’s actions caused Robinson to suffer embarrassment, humiliation, loss of income and emotional and mental distress, according to the suit.

Robinson is seeking compensatory and punitive damages in the amount of $1 million. She is representing herself.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr.
