PERSONNEL FILE: Brown joins Nelson Mullins

HUNTINGTON -- Nathan Brown has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough's West Virginia office as an associate. He practices in the area of civil litigation.

Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Brown served as a trial defense counsel for the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell, Ky., where he represented service members in a variety of matters. Earlier in his military career, he acted as the senior legal advisor to the brigade that trained combat advisors deploying to Afghanistan and Iraq and functioned as the chief legal advisor to a combined, joint task force responsible for counter-improvised explosive device operations in Afghanistan. He also worked as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney and trial counsel at Fort Polk, La.

His previous work also includes serving as an in-house attorney for Norfolk Southern Corp., handling a variety of matters, including corporate compliance, securities, and employee benefits. He also served as an intern for former U.S. Congressman Bud Shuster (R-PA).

Brown earned a Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Law in 2003. He previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of South Carolina-Honors College, magna cum laude, in 1999.
